O Mesón
Novo Guest House is a two star family establishment. We started out
as a café-bar in 1974 and later, in 1998, opened the Guest House
too.
We
are at the Km 27 point on the main N-550 road between A Coruña and
Santiago de Compostela, in Mesón do Vento – from where there is
easy access to the main cities in Galicia, its beautiful coastal
areas and other points of interest inland. Just in front of the Guest
House and cafeteria is a bus stop, allowing you to visit A Coruña
(27 kms away) or Santiago de Compostela (36 kms away).
We
are near the Hospital de Bruma hostel (Mesía), where one of the English Way stages ends.
Depending
on the dates of your stay with us, you can enjoy, here in the
village, the famous grelos in the "Feira do Lacón con grelos"
(in March), the "Festas do San Pedro" (in June), and the
"Feirón da Adina" - a market of local products, where you
can buy typical Galician food (check for the dates).
Just
9 kms away is Ordes where you can visit the Juanjo Linares Costume
Museum, burn off some adrenaline at the Indoor Karting Ordes and discover
the "DesOrdes Creativas" (a large public and free outdoor
museum, where various international artists turn disused facades and
spaces into incredible works of art). You can sample the famous
“queique” and, in April, delicious mushrooms in the "Festa
do Champiñón", and in August enjoy the local patron saint
festivities.
In
the surrounding area you will find some of the Pazos and beautiful
Romanesque churches that the Camino Inglés passes. The Aquapark Cerceda, the only water park in Galicia, is only 9.5 kms away; and 15
kms away is the Casa Grande de Xanceda - where you can learn how an
organic dairy farm works and you can even take part in its daily
tasks (children can give the calves a drink, feed chickens, brush
ponies and find out how yogurt is made).
26
kms away is Casas Novas, the famous Equestrian Centre that organizes
the “Casas Novas” trophy.
Whether
it´s for pleasure, work or for a pilgrimage, we offer you the ideal
place for your stay.
